Change

So you are at home with nothing to do... So let's start a discussion.  My question to you is this:  Do you think people can change?  I'm not talking about physically or on a surface level, but REALLY change.  You know how some people are self centered, greedy, caring, too trusting, outgoing, annoying... Do you think people can change?  Let me know what you think and defend your answer.  Bonus points for examples and scripture to back your answer.

I think people CAN change, and drastically, usually if something really good or bad happens. However, I also think there's still a little part of you that stays the same; for example, if a shoplifter saw one of their friends get caught, recieve a fine, and get 72 hours of community service, they might swear off shoplifting ever again. At the same time, every time they go in a convinience store, gas station, grocery store, (anything) they will have that small urge to take the easy way out and slip a few things in their pockets to have for free.

So I guess I think they can change some things and not change others. It just depends on how much you fight back that selfish, greedy, annoying other self that is constantly at the edge of your personality.

So then do you really change?  Or do your actions just change.  In other words, can a person change to the point where they don't have the desire to shoplift anymore?  Otherwise you just change on the outside but not on the inside...  just a thought.  Let me know what you think

Yes I think people can really change, but I also think that kind of change is extremely RARE. I think in most cases, people just change their actions. It takes a lot to completely alter a person's perspective to the point where it affects their everyday life.
